Replaced by Developing and managing an information architecture - Whole of Victorian Government ICT Guideline issued 29 November 2010.

Supporting: Information Architecture/Classification Standard (WEB/STD/08)

Version: 2.0

Release Date: 30 November 2007

Information Architecture Document Suite

The Information Architecture/ Classification Standard was endorsed in April 2005. It is underpinned by the desire to improve a citizen's ability to find information and services through the provision of a consistent approach to website information architecture and discovery across Government.

The standard prescribes the development of an Information Architecture Plan and a schedule for updating the plan

The standard recommended the preparation of a guideline describing the context for website information architecture development and management and the preparation of an Information Architecture Plan template. The IA Plan is the second in a series of key documents which ought to be available to Website Management Taskforces describing the websites within their portfolio. The first of these documents is the Website Business Case.

Materials supporting the Information Architecture Standard are:

    • Information Architecture Guideline - Developing and Managing and Information Architecture providing important general information regarding the role of the IA Plan, and should be read first
    • the Information Architecture Plan Template providing the framework for the documentation of a website's information architecture.
    • A series of short papers and example documents and tools have been collated in a document titled "Support Resources". These resources are designed to assist business owners and web managers to deepen their understanding in specific areas related to information architecture. This document provides assistance on specific areas of the IA Plan.

The diagram below illustrates the relationship between the materials supporting this Standard.
