The Information Architecture/ Classification Standard was endorsed in April 2005. It is underpinned by the desire to improve a citizen's ability to find information and services through the provision of a consistent approach to website information architecture and discovery across Government.
The standard prescribes the development of an Information Architecture Plan and a schedule for updating the plan
The standard recommended the preparation of a guideline describing the context for website information architecture development and management and the preparation of an Information Architecture Plan template. The IA Plan is the second in a series of key documents which ought to be available to Website Management Taskforces describing the websites within their portfolio. The first of these documents is the Website Business Case.
