The Department of Health's Better Health Channel has launched a free iPhone and iPad app to help Victorians take control of their health and wellbeing anytime, anywhere. The mobile app builds on the quality information Victorians have come to expect from the award winning Better Health Channel, by delivering only the best health and medical advice. The app delivers comprehensive, reliable and easy to understand information – all of which has been quality assured by medical experts. The Better Health Channel app enables Victorians to search, find and browse health information as well as locate an extensive range of health services.

The Better Health Channel iPhone and iPad app has been developed, by the Victorian Government's Department of Health, to empower many Victorians to:
- Take control of their health and wellbeing by accessing quality assured and up-to-date health information and Victorian health services anytime, anywhere
- Establish and maintain healthy behaviours and lifestyles, and
- Make better informed health decisions.
Version 2 builds on the success of the first release (including being awarded the No. 1 Medical app at the Australian 2012 mobile awards) by providing the full compliment of Better Health Channel information.

Vic Roads - Road Mode Mobile App

VicRoads has developed Road Mode, a new road safety app for android phones to minimise driver distraction. Assistant Treasurer Gordon Rich-Phillips said almost 90 per cent of respondents to the Coalition Government's Road Safety Survey said that texting while driving should lead to tougher penalties.
When enabled, the Road Mode app will put a mobile phone on silent and send a text message to anyone who tries to call or text that mobile, telling them the person is driving and will respond when it is safe to do so.

The app, available on both iPhone and Android is the only one of its kind in the world. The app allows students to link their class timetable with the Public Transport Journey Planner, the app will then, intuitively, plan their journey across all days. With the hit of a button, students will know when they must leave home, which bus, train or tram to catch to reach their classes in time.
