Internet Rules on VCE Results Day

From the Minister for Education, Media Release, Thursday, December 7, 2006

Most of Victoria's 79,000 VCE students will use the internet to get their final results on Monday.

Minister for Education John Lenders said the Internet service was by far the most popular method by which students could gain access to their VCE results.

"After all the hard work and study it is understandable that students would want their results quickly and the best way to do this is online," Mr Lenders said.

"We're expecting to see more than 50,000 students retrieving their results from the Internet this year, in line with previous years."

In 2005, the Internet was the most popular method of results retrieval, with 50,503 students using it, compared to 11,863 using SMS, and 1895 accessing results through the phone service.

For students who prefer a more traditional method, results are still posted to each student through the mail.

Mr Lenders urged students to be patient when using any of the results services, especially the Internet and phone.

"While the system is designed to cope with huge demand, it's important that students follow all the appropriate steps to avoid delays.

"Whether you're using the phone, Internet or SMS, it is important to have your Student Number and PIN on hand when you get ready to dial up."

All of Victoria's 79,724 VCE students will be able to access their results via Internet, phone or SMS from 7am on Monday, December 11. Results are also mailed to students from December 12.

Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority chief executive John Firth said all students should feel proud of their work.

"Every student who obtains the VCE or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) has achieved remarkable things and they can rest assured that the hard work they have put in will continue to pay off," Mr Firth said.

The 2006 VCE results and ENTER service is co-ordinated by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre.
