Australia's first election application Vote Victoria was launched today (18 November 2010) to assist Victorians with election information, postal voting, voting locations and elections results for the State government election being held on Saturday November 27, 2010.
Developed by Information Victoria in collaboration with Deloitte Australia and the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC), the application uses the iPhone’s Global Positioning System (GPS) to help users find early voting centres and voting centres on election day.
Vote Victoria makes it easier for Victorians who need to cast an early vote for the Victorian state election by finding the three closest early voting centres to the user.
Victorians unsure on where to vote on election day can use the application to find their 10 closest voting centres including opening times.
On election night, Vote Victoria will also help users keep a tab on what’s happening on election night, wherever they are. Live counting will be available from 6pm using real-time VEC information and will display provisional first preference counts by party, statewide and at district level.
Vote Victoria is available as a free download from Apple’s App Store for iPhone at VoteVictoria
