The term 'e-government' is a label now applied to a wide range of strategies and initiatives concerned with using information and communications technologies (ICT) to improve government performance. To some people e-government is a useful shorthand for IT enabled transformation and reform. To others its meaning has become less clear – with ICT becoming so embedded in all service and policy processes that the 'e' no longer warrants any particular focus. 'E-government' is just 'government'.
