VisualPlace - Visualising Victorian Government Data Sets using GIS
VisualPlace is a six month proof of concept trial provided by the Victorian Government to test innovative ways of capturing, exploring and visualizing government information and services through maps.
The VisualPlace Map provides you with an interactive GIS-enabled application to map and visualize government information and services. To use Visual Place you will need to install Microsoft Silverlight first.
The VisualPlace trial aims to improve access to government information and services by adding a dynamic GIS (Geographic Information System) enabled service delivery application to Victoria Online.
There is a VisualPlace blog which is being run alongside the Proof of Concept to receive your feedback on issues from data needs to functionality requirements and ideas for future directions.

Users of VisualPlace will be able to:
- Find, locate and map service locations throughout Victoria such as Train and Tram lines, Police Stations, Life Saving Clubs and Libraries, and
- Search and map data at both state and local government area levels. Datasets include a wide range of information about a location such as citizen demographics, employment, education and health.
The VisualPlace trial will run for a period of six months from January 2010.
