Province announces GPS monitoring project getting underway

High-tech Monitoring Starting For Highest-risk Thieves: Chomiak. Government of Manitoba, News Release, April 8, 2008. "Initial testing is complete and the province is ready to begin fitting some of its highest-risk young auto thieves with electronic tracking devices immediately, Attorney General Dave Chomiak announced today. 'The GPS monitoring system adds an extra layer of supervision that we hope will add to the success of Manitoba’s broader strategy to tackle auto theft,' said Chomiak. 'The goal is to enhance public safety while helping youth comply with court-ordered conditions.'..."
