Street Address Data Standard - Whole of Victorian Government Standard

DATA STD: Address Data

Requirement: All departments and agencies must comply with the National Address Management Framework (NAMF)1 for the management, storage, interchange and validation of postal (mailing) and street (location or physical) address data; as described in the Address Data Requirements section below.

Overview

The purpose of this standard is to define a common approach to management and usage of address data within and between Victorian Government departments and agencies, and between Victorian Government departments and agencies and external parties.

The address data standard covers four areas:

  • authoritative address data sources;
  • address data storage;
  • address data interchange; and
  • validation of address data.

NAMF is a standards-based framework that supports implementation of compliant address management solutions across federal, state and local government.

This Victorian standard will enable Victorian Government departments and agencies to comply with NAMF.
